Tonight

Your hand still clasped in mine.
They stand the test of time.
The fragmented moment stays,
On replay in my mind.

Tonight I'll reject the truth,
And push away my doubt.
I'll allow myself a moment,
To let my heart scream and shout.

Tonight I will break the rules,
The ones that kept me safe,
And entertain the foreign concept,
That you will look my way.
That it is me your searching eyes do find,
And cast on a loving gaze.
Your emotions are so hard to read,
Just like me I guess.
But once too many I have brushed,
Your lingering as coincidence.

Tonight I will admit,
To myself this once,
That maybe I am so in love,
And it cannot be undone,
That the world has not fallen in,
Simply cause I'm in love.

I'll humor myself the concept,
That there is more than a good chance.
That you might love me as I you,
And this is a budding romance.

Tonight this magic will unfold,
And soothe my aching heart.
